Safety Manager, Eastern Region, U.S.

Tindol Construction is currently seeking to hire an experienced Safety Manager for the Eastern Region of the U.S. Ideally, candidates should be able to travel to project sites in states such as PA, NC, SC, TN, KY, and GA area. This candidate will work with other company Safety Managers within the company to ensure Tindol Construction maintains and develops a solid safety culture across all projects in his or her region. Additionally, they will work with Site Safety Coordinators, Specialists and Consultants and act as a liaison between the developer and site EPC (contractor) to support our maintaining their safety program expectations and contractual requirements.

Tindol Construction quickly became known for getting the job done right and is now run by Jason and his brother Garrett Tindol. Today, we provide civil site construction services throughout the U.S. in the Oil & Gas, Wind, Solar and Energy Storage sectors. Responsibilities:

Train and manage on-site coordinators to ensure that the following items are being done and implemented on projects in the region according to Tindol Construction and the clients’ standards or expectations.

  • Report all injuries, incidents, and near misses immediately to the Site Safety Manager.
  • Safety Personnel shall be dedicated solely for the purposes of Site safety consultation and assistance with identification and correction of recognized safety hazards. Safety Personnel shall not be responsible for any other Project Sites, environmental issues, human resources, production, scheduling, payroll, security, quality control, time keeping, ordering supplies other than safety supplies, physically placing barricades, administering drug and alcohol testing and remedial clerical work.
  • Serve as technical advisors to their project management team on safety and health planning, training, and problem resolution issues.
  • Be a visible presence in the field as much as possible and be an active champion of safety through observation and coaching.  A minimum of 70% field presence is required.
  • Ensure appropriate PPE is provided and use enforced.
  • Enforce company’s health and safety program procedures. Accompany client supervisory personnel as directed and perform joint inspections of work areas and activities.
  • Attend and participate in weekly safety meetings.
  • Actively participate in accident/incident/illness/injury investigations.
  • Proactively seek areas to implement lean processes for improvement without compromise to safety of team members.
  • Provide Foreman with daily safety topics for the toolbox/ meetings or safety meetings.
  • Review safety-meeting reports for attendance.
  • Attend and periodically conduct toolbox/tailgate meetings to evaluate their effectiveness.
  • Implement required safety-training programs for subcontractor employees and supervisors.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety or related technical field with a minimum of 5 years of project experience in a construction safety role as a titled safety professional
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience project in a construction safety role as a titled safety professional and completion of the OSHA 500 Training Course
  • A CHST designation with a minimum of four years in a construction safety role as a titled safety professional.

  • Excellent conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to travel to project sites and client meetings.
